The moment we have waited for is here! PLEASE SHARE THIS AND HELP SAVE A CHILD’S LIFE.

Rachel’s Law is being offered today as an amendment to a current bill. With just days left in this session, this is our last chance to get this done. PLEASE contact as MANY of the members of the Ways and Means committee listed below and ask them to support the Padden Amendment (Rachel’s Law). I know this is a lot to ask, there are 23 members, but we’re so close to making this happen now!

Then click the name of your Senator from the list below and then call them and then click “email.” asking them to support the Amendment.

Where we are at:

Washington State Law allows a minor 13 or older to refuse treatment for substance abuse despite the desire of the parents.

We currently have legislation being drafted that will be brought to the floor in this upcoming January session that will restore the treatment decisions to the parents or guardians. Because there are many other states with similar laws, we will then work to change those as well. Idaho and New York have laws that allow 14 year olds the right to decide. They are our next targets after Washington. We will also be working to educate young people by speaking at schools and other events.

The money being raised will primarily be used for legal fees, to register the Foundation in other states, build a website and to reimburse expenses incurred for speaking engagements. There will be no money spent on salaries as we are an all volunteer organization.
